Can You Pay the Debt?
Are you weighed down by the feeling that you can never truly make things right with God? In this week’s sermon, we confront the sobering reality that all of us owe a spiritual debt to God—one far greater than any national debt, utterly impossible to pay back on our own. Where self-salvation fails, God’s solution prevails.
The Heidelberg Catechism (Q12–15) and Scripture (1 Timothy 2:5–6; Hebrews 2:17–18) point us to Jesus Christ—the perfect, sinless Mediator, both truly human and fully divine—who satisfies God’s justice in our place. It’s not a partial payment. It’s paid in full.
